Morganstone continues its Mental Health awareness talks

On November 10th 2018, to mark World Mental Health Day, Morganstone launched its new wellbeing policy and kick started its campaign to spread awareness around Mental Health across the workforce.

Since rolling out the campaign, Community Engagement Manager Nia Collard has delivered eight mental health awareness sessions across sites and offices,“The sessions have been a great success. Most importantly they have encouraged people to challenge stigma and have open and frank discussions around a topic that affects the lives of so many people, especially construction workers.”

The sessions consist of a short presentation posing topics for open discussions between attendees and are offered to all employees on site including sub-contractors, apprentices and individuals on work placement alongside office staff. Attendees are also provided with information around general wellbeing, and also signposted towards Mental Health websites and telephone helplines.

At the end of each session, Nia asks each attendee to go away and have one conversation around mental health, hoping to achieve a domino effect by inspiring people to open up about their struggles and also be vigilant for signs of suffering in others.

With a handful of new exciting projects on the pipeline, future sessions are planned for the near future. This is timely with Time to talk day, on February 7th 2019, a Time to change event centred around spreading awareness of mental health and motivating people to speak openly about the subject.
