Maesteg Extra Care and Residential Housing Scheme

The Maesteg Extra Care Scheme and Residential Housing Development was developed by Morganstone on behalf of Linc Cymru. The scheme comprises of 17 bungalows and an Extra Care facility with 20 Extra Care apartments, 10 residential care rooms and a range of communal facilities including sitting rooms, dining room, lounge, laundry room, salon, activity room and communal gardens.  The Extra Care scheme provided state of the art housing units for older and vulnerable people in Bridgend County Borough.

The Extra Care Scheme was specially designed so that tenants can live within their own apartments which are fitted with assistive technology that enables the people who live there to remain safe and independent, alongside a range of community facilities, and helps keep couples together within a supported environment in the event that one partner’s care needs change. The scheme is designed to support people who may have dementia and sensory loss and will be designed to meet RNIB Visibly Better standards. A residential care option was also incorporated into the scheme which offers round-the-clock, on-site support 365 days of the year.

The scheme was developed by Linc Cymru Housing Association, Bridgend County Borough Council, and Welsh Government who were working in partnership to establish new facilities within Bridgend County Borough and Morganstone were delighted to be chosen to construct the development.
