Work is now underway on the Cefn Hengoed sports and leisure complex that will benefit many thousands of people across Swansea.
Last week, a turf-cutting ceremony was held at the site of the new indoor sports barn at Cefn Hengoed Leisure Centre and Community School to announce the commencement of our exciting new project. Morganstone team leaders were joined by pupils and headteacher Carl Bale to celebrate the new leisure development that will be undertaken at Cefn Hengoed Community School.
Morganstone will transform the former facilities, which will receive a new sports barn featuring an indoor 3G pitch and a fitness studio along with a re-purposed outdoor five-a-side pitch. The Hub sporting facilities will also be accompanied by refurbished changing rooms, a café, and associated parking for visitors.
The project is being funded by Swansea Council and the Welsh Government, with a £750,000 grant from the Premier League, The FA and Government’s Football Foundation with support from the Swansea City Foundation. Further contributions were made by Sport Wales, plus Freedom Leisure which manages the leisure centre on behalf of the council.
We are pleased to announce that works are currently underway for Cefn Hengoed and we are excited to deliver this much anticipated development.
