Representatives from Morganstone, Cardiff Community Housing Association (CCHA) and Cardiff County Council gathered to celebrate the official “topping out” of the new housing scheme at Schooner Way, Cardiff Bay.
In building construction, topping out is a builder’s rite traditionally held on completion of the building’s roof structure. At Schooner Way, the occasion was marked with a ceremony carried out by Ian Morgan, Managing Director, Morganstone and Caroline Lewis, Director of Development, Cardiff Community Housing Association).
The development, of 85 one and two bedroom apartments, fronts and overlooks Bute East Dock, Cardiff and is the first open market scheme for CCHA. It cements the successful working relationship established between Morganstone and CCHA who have previously worked together on the nearby Hamadrayad Court development, shortlisted for New Development Award at the Chartered Institute of Housing Welsh Housing Awards 2016.
Ian Morgan, Managing Director, Morganstone said, “We are really pleased to see this flagship project reach this milestone along with the opening of the show home apartment. We are also delighted that Morganstone has assisted CCHA on their first open market sales development continuing our ongoing successful partnership”.
Caroline Lewis, Director of Development at CCHA said “CCHA are excited to be able to offer homes for sale within the heart of Cardiff in our first open market development. We are committed to delivering much needed new homes, not just social housing but also properties for sale. House building also generates wider economic benefits through job creation and apprenticeships, which contribute to the growth and development of the city, and CCHA is delighted to play a role in that.
