Sustainable Community Collaboration at Beacon Hill

Sustainability and community wellbeing are two pillars of our work at Beacon Hill, and we are incredibly proud to share a new initiative that brings them both together. We have begun a collaboration with the fantastic team at Llansamlet Men’s Shed to ensure that our site pallets are given a purposeful second life.

The Men’s Shed is an outstanding initiative that provides a space for people to connect, converse, and create. It plays a vital role in supporting local mental health and wellbeing by fostering a sense of belonging and achievement through craftsmanship. We are truly honoured to support their mission by providing the raw materials for their next wave of projects.
Rather than letting high-quality timber go to waste, the skilled members of the Shed are transforming our reclaimed pallets into beautiful planters and sturdy benches. The best part? These finished pieces will be donated back to the local community, creating greener, more welcoming spaces for everyone to enjoy.

As part of our commitment to being a Considerate Constructor, we are always looking for ways to reduce our environmental footprint while adding value to the areas where we build. This partnership is a perfect example of the circular economy in action—taking items directly from our Beacon Hill site and repurposing them into something that benefits the residents of Swansea.

A huge thank you to the members of the Llansamlet Men’s Shed for their hard work and for allowing us to be a small part of the incredible impact they make. We can’t wait to see these planters and benches out in the community soon.
