Ospreys to host Connacht at Morganstone Brewery Field

The Ospreys will be hosting their next Pro14 game against Connacht at the Morganstone Brewery Field in Bridgend at 20:05pm on Friday 26th October. This is the first time that the region has taken such a game on the road and as Morganstone are proud sponsors of both the Ospreys and the Morganstone Brewery field, we are delighted that both the team and the stadium are able to come together for one highly anticipated evening. Ian Morgan, Managing Director for Morganstone, had this to say about the game,

“Morganstone are very proud to be heavily associated with such a significant fixture for the Ospreys in the Pro14 league. The occasion is an excellent representation of Morganstone’s close involvement with sport and the community and it should be a spectacle for all to enjoy”

The change of venue for the Ospreys is largely due to Swansea City FC having fixture priority in the Liberty Stadium and having a home game on the 27th October. If the Ospreys were then to play on the Sunday, this would leave them without their Welsh contingent for the game due to Wales’ Autumn Internationals beginning on the following weekend. World Rugby’s ‘Right to Release’ rule that dictates that selected players must be released by their club seven days before an international match.

Playing on the Sunday would leave the Ospreys without several of their key players, including Luke Morgan who is set to win first cap for Wales after switching from Wales sevens. Morgan, 26, has been in lethal form for the Ospreys thus far, scoring four tries in five games, so this call up is no surprise for the Bridgend born winger .

The Ospreys are currently sitting pretty in second place in the Pro14 Conference A table whereas Connacht are down in fifth. Despite the gap in standings, a win for Connacht could see them catapult themselves above the Ospreys into 2nd place due to the close nature of the league.

It’s a big night for the Ospreys, Morganstone and the Morganstone Brewery Field as it hosts its first Pro14 game, and promises to be a great occasion. Tickets are available here.
