Llanelli-based construction company Morganstone has celebrated an impressive win over Pembroke Dock Cricket Club in a match played to raise money for charity.
The team from Morganstone beat players from Pembroke Dock with a score of 179 in 20 overs to 108. The match was kindly hosted by Pembroke Dock Cricket Club. Pembroke Dock Cricket Club is adjacent to one of Morganstone’s current developments Imble Lane; which is being constructed in partnership with housing provider Pembrokeshire Housing Association.
The aim of the match was to raise money for Autism Fledglings, a charity that specialises in early intervention for children with autism and pervasive developmental disorders. A total of £400 was raised on the night, and this was matched by Morganstone’s Managing Director, Ian Morgan, bringing the total to £800. Funds are still coming in from the Imble Lane site as well.
Money raised was to support treatment for a little girl in Pembroke Dock, who has Autism and attends Autism Fledglings. Staff at Autism Fledglings which has centres across Wales use a verbal behaviour approach and pivotal response training, which focuses on motivating children to learn. Staff are very hands on so that they can work with the children to teach them that learning is fun.
Ian Morgan, Managing Director of Morganstone, said:
“I would like to thank Pembroke Dock Cricket Club and the staff from Morganstone that turned up to play in the cricket match. We have raised £800 and still counting. It would be great if we could hit that target of £1000 with funds still coming in from the Imble site.
Autism Fledglings do such a wonderful job helping youngsters, and whilst we have a team based at Imble Lane, we want to help and support the wider community as much as we can.”
