Morganstone signs up to the Home Builders Skills Pledge

As one of Wales’ fastest growing businesses, Morganstone is well aware of the skills shortage the construction industry faces and we are actively involved in working to improve this.

Alongside over 50 companies in the industry we have signed up to the Home Building Skills Pledge developed by the Home Builders Federation (HBF) to tackle this nationwide shortage.

The Skills Pledge covers five key areas: Collaborate and share; Train to a standard; Engage and support; Champion diversity and inclusion; and Promote careers.

By signing up to the Pledge, companies will also be supporting the HBF’s Home Building Skills Partnership and working to its shared goals.

Jenny Herdman, director of the Home Building Skills Partnership, said: “It is extremely encouraging to see momentum building for collectively solving the housing skills crisis.  We face a huge challenge but also have a unique opportunity to make a difference, and be part of a combined demonstration that a career in house building provides huge opportunities and prospects.

As a company Morganstone has already activated a unique initiative across South and South West Wales to address the situation and attract the brightest and the best. We have designed and developed a series of hoardings to highlight the wide-ranging roles and opportunities within this booming industry. The hoardings – Construction and Careers – have now been placed on the company’s sites across Wales as part of its year-round drive to promote the benefits of careers in construction particularly to women and young people.

Ian Morgan, Managing Director of Morganstone said “As a company we are enjoying a time of unprecedented growth. However, the campaign and hoardings are about the industry, supporting the Welsh economy and addressing the current and predicted shortfalls of people entering the construction industry.

“We are happy to make this investment to help fortify the sector and to help young people discover the rewards to be gained with a career in construction”.
