Morganstone and CCHA host Family Fun Day

Morganstone and CCHA host Family Fun Day

Morganstone and housing provider Cardiff Community Housing Association (CCHA) hosted a family fun day at Hamadryad Park to provide an event dedicated to the local community in the close vicinity of the Hamadryad development in South Docks, Cardiff Bay. Staff from construction company Morganstone and CCHA manned the stalls and were on hand to introduce themselves to residents and show plans of the development.

Residents were treated to free beverages, afternoon tea and a barbecue whilst Radio Cardiff provided the entertainment throughout the day.  Children were able to try out arts and crafts, a bouncy castle assault course and take part in football coaching provided by Cardiff City Football Club.  Children also had the opportunity to have glitter tattoos with many adults having glitter tattoos also!

Morganstone hosted a Site Safety Arts and Crafts stall to teach children in the area about site safety on and around construction sites.  Ivor Goodsite, a costumed character developed by the Considerate Constructors Scheme engaged with children to reinforce the site safety message and even joined in the football coaching and musical statues!  Local children also took part in the designing a site safety posters with prizes given to the winning children and the posters to be displayed on the community notice board outside the site.

More than 230 people turned up from the area over the course of the day to ask questions relating to the new development, which commenced in June 2015.

Antonia John, Community Engagement Manager for Morganstone, said:

“The idea behind the event was to give something back to the local community and introduce ourselves as a construction company and CCHA as a housing provider and to inform the local community about the new development. It allowed residents to ask us any questions and air any concerns they might have had regarding the development.

The family fun day was a success and local residents enjoyed refreshments and entertainment whilst being shown plans and CGIs of the houses and apartments. The residents were very appreciative that we all took the time to talk them through everything.”
