Lucky winners receive prizes for site safety poster

It was an eventful morning for the children at Ysgol Gynradd Cymraeg Castellau, Beddau on September 30 as staff from Morganstone announced the lucky winners of the poster competition.   Morganstone and Rhondda Housing Association are constructing 39 Dwellings in Beddau opposite the school on Castellau Road

More than 40 children entered the competition, which tasked them with designing a safety poster for the new housing development at Castellau Road, which is opposite the school.

After much deliberation among the judges 4 children were announced as the winners and were presented with encyclopaedias and drawing materials as a prize.  The posters have been placed on site to remind people of the dangers of a building development and to encourage children to stay out.

Mr Dafydd Davies, Head Teacher of Ysgol Gynradd Cymraeg Castellau, said:

“We have really enjoyed working with Morganstone on this competition. The children received some extremely important safety information, and are now more aware of hazards on a building site. With the site being just across the road from the school it is very important the children are aware of these dangers.”

Peter Rees, Groundworks Operations Manager for Morganstone, said:

“I would like to thank all of the children for all their hard work. The response has been amazing and the children have done a fantastic job. The presentation has been taken seriously by the children and they are now fully aware of the dangers of a building site.”
