Kickstart Scheme – Changing Lives

Morganstone welcomes new Kickstart placements

At Morganstone, we have a passion for promoting the industry and providing unique and sustainable career opportunities for the next generation. This matched perfectly with the vision of the Government Kickstart scheme – funding job placements for 16 to 24 years olds, at risk of long term unemployment. Carmarthenshire County Council guided us through the process and helped us recruit young people in the local area. It has been fantastic to see how the kickstart placements have flourished during their time with us. We’re so excited to see how their careers develop further.

Kickstart Case study

Our first Kickstart placement started in June. Kornelia joined us as a Trainee Administrator at our Head office in Llanelli.  Her role involves supporting the customer care and HSQE teams. Her creative flair has also seen her design new graphics and marketing material and support the company’s social media presence. Here’s what Kornelia had to say about her new role:

When I was first told about Kickstart it sounded a bit too good to be true. When I was put in contact with them, I felt like a weight had been lifted from my shoulders.  It finally felt like someone was fighting in my corner.

My first few weeks at Morganstone have been incredible, right from my first day, I felt like part of the team. I was put under the care of my amazing mentor who is always available and willing to help me and explain new information. The work day is never boring as there are always new things to learn and experience.

The scheme has given an opportunity to employ local young talent and train them to succeed in these challenging times. Through a structured training and mentoring programme we’re able to offer a unique opportunity for young people.

The future of construction lies with the generations to come, but skills shortages have been a worry in the industry for many years. Young people have so much to offer but due to the current climate many have been unable to realise their full potential. That’s why as a company we were so keen to be involved in the Kickstart scheme.

Our Kickstart experience has been a great success already, it has allowed us to welcome great young talent into the organisation. We’d really like to thank Carmarthenshire County Council for guiding us through the process. Their support has been invaluable.
