Children of Pengelli Primary School gave the newly upgraded play area at Golden Grove Park a big thumbs up at the official opening last week.
The park upgrade is part of Swansea council’s efforts to invest and upgrade play facilities across the local authority. Financial contributions via the Section 106 funding from our Tyrisha Farm development, in partnership with Pobl, was used to support the project along with support from Friends of Golden Grove Park and Grovesend & Waungron Community Council.
Children’s play areas are a key part of our communities, enabling young children to have fun and play in a safe environment. The funding we have agreed as part of the budget will ensure that these play areas all across the city will be upgraded and give families with young children the opportunity to have fun and take part in healthy outdoor activities for years to come.
Robert Francis Davies, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Investment, Regeneration and Tourism
The pupils from Pengelli Primary School helped to design the new park, which was completed by Dragon Play and Sports.
“Our pupils really enjoyed being involved in the design and they were so excited to attend the opening and are really pleased with the new area which is fantastic for the village.”
Helen Talaat, Headteacher, Pengelli Primary School
We’re thrilled to have been able to contribute to such a great project that will leave a lasting legacy in the local community. By releasing the funding early, we’ve been able to witness first-hand the huge benefit it has had and we hope the community continue to enjoy the new park for many years to come.
