Construction students from Coleg Gwent visited our College Road development in Ebbw Vale recently to see what life was like on a Morganstone site. The morning began with an introduction into the world of construction and the opportunities available from our Community Engagement Manager Nia Collard, which was followed by a full site induction and Q&A session with Project Manager Anthony Jenkins. The students were then treated to a full site tour of the development, stopping to observe the different trades on the way.
As a result of the visit, Morganstone were able to offer carpentry student Nash some on site work experience. The work experience has since led to him being head hunted by sub-contractor ACS Carpentry Solutions who as a result have offered to support him through his apprenticeship placement.
The above formed part of Morganstone’s wider Community Engagement strategy for the project, which has also included a series of intergenerational events between neighbouring Llys Glyncoed Care Home and Glyncoed Primary School nearby.
Morganstone has proudly developed working partnerships throughout the project, strengthening its working relationships with Coleg Gwent, Linc Cymru, Blaenau Gwent Council and Blaenau Gwent Intergenerational Connectors team.
