Morganstone hosts charity cricket match with the Ospreys

On August Bank Holiday Sunday, as the sun blazed down over Ammanford, Morganstone played host alongside Ammanford Cricket Club to a family fundraising day and cricket match held at Ammanford’s home ground, for local Mental Health Charity the Jac Lewis Foundation. The mixed Morganstone/Ospreys team was Captained by ex-England international cricketer Robert Croft, former Captain at Glamorgan Cricket Club. Robert retired from professional cricket in 2012, having played the sport for a staggering twenty-three seasons. The all-star side Morganstone side included nine members of the Ospreys Rugby Team  Hanno Dirksen, Matthew Aubrey, Will Griffiths, Tiaan Thomas Wheeler, Harri Morgan, Dan Evans, Phil Jones and Callum Carson and reigned victorious over Ammanford Cricket Club on the day – to claim the Morganstone trophy.

Alongside the cricket match, the Morganstone team joined family, friends and the local Ammanford Community and were treated to a day jam-packed with entertainment for all ages, including:

  • A Funfair with stalls, trampolines, a fairground ride and bouncy castle
  • A glitter tattoo artist and face painter
  • An ice-cream stall, strawberry and prosecco stall and BBQ
  • A special visit from Ammanford Fire Station
  • Ospreys in the Communities’ TACKLE O Meter
  • Morganstone craft tent and family games
  • Children’s disco and DJ

Raffle tickets were also sold on the day, contributing towards the £2000 raised for the chosen charity for this year’s event – the Jac Lewis Foundation. The foundation assists the local community and businesses’ of Ammanford with mental health and wellbeing support and mentor training. Its’ mission is to break the stigma associated with mental health and develop a community where it is commonplace for individuals to be open around their mental health and wellbeing.

Morganstone and Westacres would like to thank everybody involved with the day, from exhibitors, to players, to umpires, Ammanford Cricket Club and the local community and employees who attended the day alongside everybody who contributed towards donations for the Jac Lewis Foundation.
