Morganstone - Charity Cricket Match Raises Funds For Local Causes

Charity cricket match raises funds for local causes

Now in its second year, Morganstone, who were the winners at last year’s inaugural match, gracefully relinquished the cup to this year’s winners and the team from Pembroke Dock CC, who won by 36 runs.

Played at the ground adjacent to Morganstone’s Imble Lane site, the charity game organised jointly between the construction company and cricket club, was held to raise much needed funds for Rudy’s Trust Fund, a charity formed to assist with some of the therapy costs and specialist equipment for a little boy born with multiple hemangiomas (a very rare form of benign tumours filled with blood) on his face and body, and in his brain.

The money raised was split. Pembroke Dock Cricket Club using theirs to give the opportunity to children with disabilities to experience cricket, and soft ball in the near future.

Thanks are also extended to RMD Carpentry for sponsoring the Match Ball.

Andrew Scott-Davies, Chairman of Pembroke Dock Cricket Club, said:

“What a great evening of cricket, and to come away with the win was extra special. It was great to jointly organise the event with Morganstone again this year and raise money for the local community. We even added some novel ways of raising extra money by giving the players fines for dropping the ball or getting a Golden Duck. We are looking forward to this becoming an annual event.”

Ben Aubrey, senior site manager for Morganstone, said:

“It was a fantastic evening of cricket organised jointly between Morganstone and Pembroke Dock Cricket Club. They were splendid hosts putting on food, drinks and a raffle to raise money for two worthy causes. It was great to support a local community sporting organisation. That said, now that it’s one a piece, we aim to make this an annual event. We need to regain our title next year.”
