Client: Pobl Group
Status: Completed
The redevelopment of the former Neath Port Talbot (NPT) Police Station was developed in partnership with Gwalia part of the Pobl Group. The project was designed to Welsh Government Development Quality Requirements, Lifetime Homes, RNIB ‘Visibly Better’ tonal compliance requirements and Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3. The development – now named Ty’r Orsaf – consists of 3 ground floor commercial units, 30 general needs apartments on the first and second floors, plant and meter rooms including sprinkler tanks, commercial and residential bin stores, cycle store and secured car park area.
The project was a key part of the regeneration of the Railway station and surrounding approaches and benefits from Welsh Government Vibrant and Viable Places Funding. The project involved the demolition of the existing 1960’s police station building and its replacement with a mixed use retail and residential three storey block, fronting directly onto the new pedestrian avenue being created to link the town centre back into the redeveloped railway station.
This redevelopment continued our partnering relationship with Gwalia and followed on from our successful Old Oak Co-operative Housing Scheme, Carmarthen.
