Ty Menyn, Swansea

Morganstone is embarking on a new partnership with Beacon Cymru to revitalise a cornerstone of Swansea’s city center. Together, we are converting the former Ty Gwalia building in The Kingsway into a new development called Ty Menyn, which will offer 48 modern flats and dedicated commercial spaces on the ground floor.

The site, a prominent part of Swansea’s skyline, has been vacant since 2020. Throughout its long history, it has served many purposes, including a butter-packing factory, a department store, and most recently, office space. Morganstone believe it is one of the most impressive buildings in the city, and we are committed to preserving its unique character for future generations to enjoy.

Our plans include adding two new storeys to the existing structure. This approach is a complete departure from the previous owner’s 2021 planning permission to demolish the building. We are pleased to be taking a different path. As our Managing Director, Ian Morgan, said, “We thought that was crazy, and we are delighted that we can retain and enhance it.”

Morganstone are excited to continue our contribution to the ongoing regeneration of Swansea and look forward to breathing new life into this remarkable building.
