We are delighted to have become accredited as a Living Wage employer by the Living Wage Foundation – as part of our continued commitment to offering a satisfying working environment for our staff.
The Living Wage commitment sees us offer a fair day’s pay for a hard day’s work and it will see everyone who works for us receive a minimum hourly wage of £8.45 – significantly higher than the national minimum wage of £6.95 and the new minimum wage premium for over 25s of £7.20 per hour, introduced this April.
The Living Wage is an hourly rate set independently and updated annually and it is calculated according to the basic cost of living using the ‘Minimum Income Standard’ for the UK. Decisions about what to include in this standard are set by the public; it is a social consensus about what people need to make ends meet and employers sign up to it voluntarily.
Our founder and Managing Director, Ian Morgan, says: “It is very important to us here at Morganstone that all of our employees are made to feel valued and respected. Committing to the Living Wage initiative is one way we can show this respect and ensure all our staff have a fair deal.
“Offering a Living Wage helps us to foster a real sense of pride and ownership in the Morganstone business. We are the fastest growing construction company in Wales and as a firm we are going from strength to strength.
“I feel very strongly that this feeling of staff buy-in is one of the secrets to our success – so apart from being the right thing to do, it makes sound business sense for us to support important initiatives like the Living Wage.”
