After months of careful planning, and with a dedicated team, Morganstone, the Llanelli-based construction company unveiled a care home specifically designed for people with early onset dementia and cognitive impairment.
The care home, constructed on behalf of Seren Group who are collaborating with Grwp Gwalia, symbolises Morganstone’s introduction to the healthcare sector. Seren and Gwalia are both not for profit organisations with a shared wealth of experience in the fields of care, support and meeting a variety of health needs.
Situated in Blackwood, Caerphilly, Cwmgelli Lodge has 24 large self-contained rooms, areas for family and visitors to share with their loved ones, open-plan lounges, a café overlooking the main garden, a pavilion within the garden which will be used for activities and social events, a spa, an activities room, clinic room, an Alzheimer’s Society office, and a roof terrace on the first floor.
The first residents will move in during August 2015 but prior to the final fit-out, Morganstone were able to hold an open event to show guests around the premises to learn more about the building and the future use of Cwmgelli Lodge.
Ian Morgan, Managing Director of Morganstone said:
“We are extremely proud to unveil this specially designed building that will provide much awaited specialist care for people with early onset of dementia.
“After months of hard work by the team the building is now finished to an exceptionally high standard with equally highly specified facilities that shall provide much needed help and support for people with dementia or cognitive impairment and their families. This also cements the development of care facilities as a vital part of our portfolio with the successful completion of Cwmgelli Lodge.”
Neil Barber, Director of Development at Seren Group also commented:
‘’Seren were really pleased to support the event to showcase the excellent work Morganstone have carried out in delivering a place which will make a major difference to the lives of people with early onset dementia and their families.
“Seren and Gwalia are working with a range of partners including Aneurin Bevan University Health Board and the Alzheimer’s Society who support our commitment to provide an environment which will set a new benchmark for this type of service. Morganstone have delivered a building which provides a great setting as we look forward to welcoming the first residents in August.”
