Morganstone - Pobl Golf Day Tee

Pobl Trust Pro-Am is the ‘par-fect’ day

A number of Morganstone and Westacres’ employees, clients and consultants were in attendance as the Pobl Trust celebrated the 30th anniversary of its Pro-Am Golf tournament recently.

It is the fourth consecutive year that Morganstone and Westacres have sponsored the event which raises funds to support people within the communities in which Pobl operates.

The tournament took place on the 28th June at Langland Bay Golf Club which is located in the Mumbles area of Swansea and is a regular home for the event.

On arrival, the attendees were greeted with bacon rolls and coffees to fuel them up in preparation for the big day ahead. After the players were all fed and ready to go, they were invited to take part in the #MorganstonePinChallenge in the club shop. The challenge required the players to get nearest to the pin as possible on a golf simulator, with the winner taking home a bottle of champagne, courtesy of Morganstone. Anyone who ended up in the water had to pay £1 to charity.

Then it was off to the course, where all the teams walked out to entrance music before being asked to pose for a ‘Ryder Cup-like’ photo in front of the Morganstone and Westacres branded first tee. This signalled the beginning of the tournament, and then they were off.

The #MorganstonePinChallenge wasn’t the only added incentive during the day. Players were also invited to try their hand at a hole in one competition on the first hole. If successful, players would have taken home a brand-new Ford Kuga car courtesy of Day’s Rental and Pobl Trust. Unfortunately, no one was able to come away with the prize but the competition did raise a large amount of money for the Trust whilst offering some added pressure to the first shot, as if the people watching and cameras weren’t enough!

Despite the stunning weather, playing conditions were extremely difficult due to the strong easterly wind coming in from the Langland Bay beach. Despite the tough environment, a Morganstone team led by Stuart Davies were able to place a close third.

Each player that competed in the event was able to play alongside a PGA professional, received on-course hospitality and were treated to a complimentary meal in the club house at the end of the day.

Both Morganstone and Westacres were more than happy to help out a worthy cause that is a further demonstration of our excellent working relationship with the Pobl Group.

Tonia Morgan, Director for Morganstone and Westacres, was present at the event and added,

“The Morganstone Group are delighted to sponsor the 30th anniversary of the Pobl Trust Pro-Am, in what is also an important milestone year for us as we celebrate our own 10th anniversary.

“As always, the day was a huge success with perfect weather and a course to match. It was clear to see that everyone who took part had a great time and there were smiles all round throughout the day.

“One of the most important aspects of today however, was that we were able to raise a lot of money towards Pobl Trust’s life-changing work in the community”.
