35 businesses from across south Wales have helped raise £9,500 for local people and communities in need at the charity pro-am golf tournament held by Gwalia Trust, part of the Pobl group and sponsored by Llanelli-based Morganstone and Westacres Homes.
Amateur teams are joined by seasoned professionals at Langland Bay Golf Club to take part in this key event on the PGA West calendar.
The winning team was Swansea based solicitors, Peter Lynn and Partners and this year’s event saw unprecedented fierce competition amongst the PGA professionals for the winning spot which was tied between Richard Dinsdale, Brian Lee and Toby Hunt.
Gwalia Trust exists to provide grants to projects which provide benefits for individuals and local communities. Projects which have recently benefitted from Trust Funding include the local Your Voice Advocacy charity which needed funding for a new project to help adults with learning disabilities in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot.
Chair of the Gwalia Trust John Morse said the course represented a huge challenge on the day with rain and high winds but everyone finished having had a great day’s golfing for a worthy cause.
“We’re extremely grateful to Morganstone for their support,” he said. “our pro-am event is crucial to our fundraising and it goes towards some very worthy local causes, with several local community projects benefitting from a share.”
Ian Morgan managing director of Morganstone said: “This is our second year of sponsoring the Gwalia Trust Pro Am Tournament and we are delighted to sponsor the tournament again. The Gwalia Trust Charity carries out and provides numerous projects in our communities which is very close to our hearts here at Morganstone. All attendees gave tremendous feedback on the day; that included golf, comedy from Owen Money and most importantly fundraising”.
