The role will be based in our Llanelli office with occasional travel around South Wales.
The Assistant Estimator will support the Estimating team in preparing accurate cost estimates for construction projects. This role involves assisting with the examination of project documents, gathering pricing information, and contributing to the preparation of detailed cost estimates. The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of construction processes, strong attention to detail, and excellent organisational skills.
Main Duties:
- Assist in reviewing project drawings, specifications, and other documents to understand project scope
- Help gather and organise pricing information for materials, labour, and plant
- Support the preparation of bills of quantities and detailed cost estimates
- Assist in maintaining relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing
- Help maintain accurate records of estimates, proposals, and project documentation
- Participate in team meetings and collaborate with other departments as needed
- Assist in the use of estimating software and databases
- Perform basic calculations and quantity take-offs
- Learn and apply estimating best practices and company procedures
- Undertake any other reasonable duty relevant to the position as assigned by the Estimating team
Qualifications:
- Good understanding of the construction industry, including the processes, materials and methods.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong communication skills.
- Detail oriented.
- Ability to work independently and as a team.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g. Evaluate or similar)
- Bachelor’s degree in a Construction related field (Desirable)
